Notes for GUY VINCENT BUCKMAN:

Served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific. After the war, he started going to Junior College in Azusa, where he met Betty Jean Ott. When first married, Guy's first job was working on Boulder Dam in Nevada. Guy and Betty decided on the need for further College and moved to Visalia where Guy completed his studies. One of the family stories is of Guy's first day on the job. He showed up and was given a large bag of wooden stakes. The foreman said.."OK ,you have an education, lets see what you can do with a sledgehammer".  Most of Guy's career with CalTrans (California Department of Transportation) was out of the San Luis Obispo, California Office. He was resident engineer on many of the highways and bridges built in San Luis Obispo, Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Barbara Counties. Guy was a quite man with a lot of good common sense. These are attributes he taught his children well.

Guy died in Marysville, California during retirement when he rushed to the aid of a neighbor who's house had caught fire. It was thought that one of the children was still inside the house and Guy had a heart attack while bringing the water hose to the house.
